ABOUT OUR COLLEGE

KITTEL ARTS COLLEGE came in to existance on July, 1st 1988 as a result of the bifurcation of the erstwhile Kittel College into Kittel Arts College and Kittel Science College. The College is managed by Karnataka Northern Diocese, Church of South India, Basel Mission Higher Education Centre, Dharwad and affiliated to the Karnatak University Dharwad. The Institution is named after the celebrated Kannada Savant and lexicographer Rev. Dr. Ferdinand Kittel (1832-1903) who came to India as a missionary in 1853, deputed by the Basel Mission, Germany. He soon gained mastery over the South Indian languages and compiled the voluminous and important Kannada-Kannada-English Dictionary (1894). We hope that his life and teaching will set an example for the young students to emulate. The College is situated on the Poona-Bangalore National Highway (No.4) and is within walking distance from any part of the city and is easily accessible to all necessary facilities. The institution aims at imparting a sound learning and liberal education. It provides instruction in Arts faculty at the degree level, leading to B. A. degree. PRINCIPAL's DESK

Each college has its own ethos, traditions and identityStudents should understand and evaluate this aspect. No compromise will be made in our basic beliefs, vision, mission & values, to satisfy the individual and varied requirements of students. We believe in Article 14 of the Indian Constitution, which says, “All are equal” and thereforemust make our own mark or achievement within the society irrespective of their financial or social status. Each student’s individuality will be respected and in turn they will be taught to compete with themselves with dignity and integrity rather than against others. Gentle behavior must similarly be not to impress others but because it safeguards their own self esteem.
The building of character in our students is fostered by the environment we create and in the opportunities we offer. Students will be offered to take responsibilities as an individual and as a team to acquire new skills and to make decisions for them. Discipline must be based on example and self-control because we at this college are involved not in the control of the masses but in individual development for leadership. In an age when leisure is recognized as essential for development, its good use is an indication of a good education, sporting activity encourages the pursuits of excellence but never at the cost of a combined team. Academic performance is permanent, but equally important is the development of the intellect and sharpened communication and soft skills.
Our strong desire is that each student should evolve into a strong citizen of this country, equipped with an enquiring mind blended with a sense of social and moral values together with a sense of service and compassion for the less fortunate and marginalized, in respect of God’s creation.
“Education is progressive discovery of our own ignorance”
                                           ------Will Durant.
